2005 Indianapolis Concours
During the June 18, 2004 Concours, a competition to find a local artist with a fresh approach to automotive art was held. Deanna Morae produced the winning submission, a photo montage with intricate and subtle interactions between the different photographic elements. Her entry was digitally photographed & produced on the day of the event. As a result, Deanna is one of only a few women ever commissioned as a Concours Cover Artist. She also helped design and create most of the advertising art and ID badges for the event.
STUTZ REFLECTIONS is the title for the 2005 Cover Art and is quite possibly the first Concours Cover art to feature photography as the medium instead of the traditional painting. Over 100 photos of Tuner Woodards restored Stutz Building and Tim Durhams 1929 Town Car were taken from various angles and perspectives. To achieve the final picture, only a few of the shots were chosen. A closer inspection reveals several interesting facets: the reflections in the cars chrome play a key role in highlighting the building in which the car was built, the Egyptian God RA is immortalized as the chrome Stutz hood ornament, prominently featured, and the unmistakable Stutz wings emblem can be found three times.
Pictured here are Andrew Lee and Roger Brumett Indy Concours executives with Deanna Morae and Turner Woodard. Turner is owner of the Stutz building.
